Playground Games

From 16 founding employees in 2010, Playground Games has brought together some of the best developers from around the world to Leamington Spa and grown into a studio of 200, with plans to grow to over 450 by 2020.

They have created three critically and commercially acclaimed, award-winning hits in Forza Horizon, Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Horizon 3. Forza Horizon 3 is Microsoft’s highest-rated console exclusive this generation and by selling over 2.5 million units in its first three months on sale Forza took the franchise to over $1 billion in retail sales.

In addition to being recognised by BAFTA, DICE and The Video Games Awards, Playground has also recently been honoured with the Best Place to Work Award in the UK by and featured in The Sunday Times Tech Track last year, one of only two video game developers listed.

“After eight successful years, Playground Games are looking to the future and to studio expansion. Last year, we started building a second AAA team in Leamington Spa, to work on an exciting new open-world action RPG project. This new team will be based in St. Albans House in Leamington Spa which we are currently investing over £1.5 million in renovating. We expect this team to grow to around 100 staff by the end of 2018, then on to 250 by 2020. With a 200-strong team, we are already the largest studio in Leamington Spa but this expansion will see us become the largest in the region and one of the biggest studios in the UK.”
